What do we stand for
We have distilled what our core values are at St. Thomas. We looked at what is it about this congregation that is most important to God, to us, and to our future -
Come together as children of God,
Grow into our faith,
Serve God in others,Make a Difference for ourselves, for others, and for the world.

Sunday Youth Group
6:30-8:30pm at St. Thomas Youth Room
Grades 6th-12th
Our Sunday evening youth group meetings are filled with games, group discussions, a game or activity to better illustrate a passage of scripture and we end in a prayer. All youth and their friends in 6th-12th grade are invited to join us. We have snacks every week and if there is a Birthday we eat Cake! Our 2011 Fall Semester we have divided up the book of Genesis and Exodus and have been discussing how the Old Testament stories are still relevant to us today as Christian people.
Youth Sunday School
9:45am in St. Thomas Youth Room
Grades 6th-12th
This is a great morning where we make the day’s Gospel relatable to a teenager. We have great instructors who have fun and are up to discussing any subject. There are also, always donuts!
Confirmation 2011
This year we have five youth taking our Confirmation class! This class meets every Sunday during the 9:45am Sunday School hour to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. We touch on all different topics relevant to the church such as the Bible, the Sacraments, Navigation the church, our style of Worship, a brush on our History, our Spirituality, and more. We are fortunate in our St. Thomas community to have many enthusiasts on one or more of these subjects and they come in and guest teach our group. We look forward to our visit to Grace Cathedral this winter and we are hoping for a tour. This is a great program and if you are interested in joining this year or next contact Katie Knoll Lenon kklenon@stthomasop.org.
Camping Trip
October 21st-22nd
Shawnee Mission Park, Site 2
Grades 6th-12th
Cost $30
This will be our second annual Camping Trip of St. Thomas Youth. We had so much fun last year, cooking, setting up camp, spending the night in the wild that we are going to repeat it this year! Only in cooler weather!
What to bring: Sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent (if you have one), long pants, long sleeved shirts, jacket, coat (if forecast predicts 40 below), at least one change of clothes, plate or bowl, water bottle, silverware, socks, closed toed shoes, hat or head covering, flashlight, bug spray, sunscreen, camping chair (if you have one), toothbrush, toothpaste.
**We will be hiking, and possibly canoeing, making our own meals over the fire, gathering our own wood for the fire. Weather conditions are hard to predict but it could be warm and it could be cold, wearing pants is a must, and bring clothes that you can layer. Bring clothes that you can get dirty.
If you let Katie Knoll Lenon know of a camping item listed that you do not have, we can accommodate you so that you do not need to go out and buy it. We want everyone to join us, so just because you are not a camper doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t come.
Registration Due: October 17th
Parents Night Out, Registration Fee Fundraiser
1st Saturday of the Month, October 2011 thru March 2012
6-11pm in St. Thomas Education Wing
This is a great program that benefits many different members of our church community. This is an evening the youth provide for our younger families. They come prepared to play, provide, and pray with our younger children of St. Thomas and their friends. This allows our parents who participate to have an evening to them selves worry free! The funds we raise go towards registration fees for Diocesan and Church retreats and events. The sum of registration fees for an individual youth to attend all events open to them is around $700. Our goal is to provide an evening of fun for the children who participate at a rate that is competitive with having a babysitter at home. Through some research we have found that the average babysitter makes about $10 an hour. We average about 20-25 children in attendance with 10 youth providing supervision at each PNO. If we maintain these figures throughout this PNO season, we should be able to reward our youth’s hard work with the registration fees they need. The bonus is that instead of your children being at home having fun with just one baby sitter, they are having a night out at their church getting to know their peers and having wonderful older youth to look up to. So please do not miss out on this opportunity to have a fun night out, give to the youth, and provide a fun time for your children to enjoy their church community.
Boo Bash Haunted House and Prep
We are celebrating Halloween this year with putting on a Haunted House for the Community. It will be October 30th at 4pm, and St. Thomas youth is in charge of the Haunted house theme and decoration. We have decided as a youth group this year on the theme of a haunted prison. To be ready to scare the pants off people we are going to work on Tuesday nights 6-8pm in October, starting October 4th. Please join us in providing this service for the congregation and our friends and neighbors.
