• What do we stand for

We have distilled what our core values are at St. Thomas. We looked at what is it about this congregation that is most important to God, to us, and to our future
  • Come together as children of God,

    Grow into our faith,

    Serve God in others,

Make a Difference for ourselves, for others, and for the world.

Would you like your child to be get involved in helping their community this summer?  Please consider signing them up for this fun summer day camp put on by St. Thomas.  During this week your child will have the opportunity to serve others in need in a safe and loving way.  We also will enjoy various activities in the afternoons like swimming, games, maybe going to the zoo and other fun things to do around Kansas City.  The cost will be $50 per student and that covers transportation and most of the afternoon activities.  Children will bring a sack lunch with them everyday, and we will start and end each day at St. Thomas.  For more information or registration packet please contact Katie Knoll Lenon at 913-451-0512. kklenon@stthomasop.org.

Summer Movie Sundays Dates Misprint

**The dates that were posted in last weeks Tower Talk were incorrect for the month of July.  Please review the dates below for the correct dates of our Summer Movie Sundays.

How about we take a break from the heat this summer and all catch a movie together now and then.  We can meet together on a couple Sundays of the month starting in June and going through August.  Sometimes we will meet at church to watch a movie and other times we will meet at the movie theatre.  We will probably always go see a movie around 1pm or 2pm in the afternoon.  You can look forward to seeing movies like Toy Story 3 and Despicable Me in theatres.  The dates for these Movie Sundays are June 6th, June 20th, July 11th, July 25th, Aug 1st and Aug 15thI will keep you posted on times and places as we approach the Movie Sunday.

Missionpalooza

Missionpalooza is a youth event for students in 8th through 12th grade this year.  It is an event put on by both the Diocese of Kansas and the Diocese of West Missouri.  We spend a week living out of St. Paul’s in on the Missouri side and each day we go out to a work site of the youth’s choice.  There are a lot of different choices like Habitat for Humanity, Waif Side Ways, Operation Breakthrough, and more.  You can work with children, animals, the elderly, the homeless and hungry, or building and construction.  In the evening there are fun things to do like go to the pool or go to the plaza.  The food is often very good.  You will meet and make many new friends.  The dates are July 13th-18thCost and Registration in coming to St. Thomas soon.  There are scholarships available.  Please mark your calendars for this event.

Summer Camping Trip

We thought we would end our summer this year with a weekend in the wilderness.  We are planning a camping trip to some place pretty close to St. Thomas.  This is for our youth in grades 6th-12th starting in the fall 2010 and for our graduated seniors before they head off to college.  More information about this event to come like location, cost, and what to bring.  But mark your calendars for August 6th-8th
